Event Update: Upton House

Last week we headed just up the A429 for a spot of mid-week eventing at the beautiful Oxfordshire venue Upton House.  The weather was very sunny and a little bit too warm at times but all the horse ran well.

NANKIN DES RUETTES jumped his usual double clear, adding a few time to a 31 dressage and finishing a close 10th in the Open Intermediate.  He now heads to Burgham International in the CIC2* at the end of July.

LAWA produce a nice test in the dressage to score 30, he also jumped beautifully round show jumping but was unlucky just to rub the last fence and have it down.  He finished with a speedy clear cross country for 5th in the Intermediate! After not feeling himself at Farley he is back on great form after a visit from our super Physio Kerry Clampton and all set for his first Advanced at Aston le Walls in a couple of week time… Ekk!

HIGH JINKS IV unfortunately it wasn’t his day and we had a wee parting of company cross country… Whoops!

F produced a 35 dressage and jumped double clear in the BE100

and PAINSWICK KING WEASEL produced a 30 dressage, had an unlucky pole show jumping and jumped clear cross country in the BE100.  Both of the young horses finished just inside the top 20 and showed big improves after their last outing at Chepstow a couple of weeks ago.

Big thank you as always to Super Grooms Maddie, Laura and Barb for making sure we were under control at home and at Upton House.  Also thank you to Tim Wilkinson (Eventing Images) for taking time out from his day job and coming and supporting me and the big boys in the Intermediate and taking more great photos.
